“Russian President has expressed his clear and accurate position regarding Karabakh. This position is that Karabakh is the Azerbaijani territory. No position was heard from the speech of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Russia. That is why, sending of weapons and servicemen from Armenia to the territories which are under the control of the Russian peacekeepers is to support separatists and terrorists”, Well-known Russian journalist, political analyst Maxim Shevchenko told in an interview with APA’s Moscow bureau.

M. Shevchenko noted that sending of weapons and servicemen from Armenia to the territories which are under the control of peacekeepers, is also assessed as a violation of the sovereignty that was identified by the Azerbaijani President, as well as the Russian President: “I consider that it is needed to investigate that which lobby groups send weapons and servicemen from Armenia to the territories which are under the control of peacekeepers. It is needed to investigate that which groups do this and why they do it? It is necessary to investigate the actions of military groups and a group of Armenian lobbyists in the Russian political establishment. We know very well that Armenian lobby groups led by Zatulin and Milonov in the State Duma are propagating this. Of course, sending of weapons and servicemen from Armenia to Russia, first of all, undermines the position of the Russian president”.
M. Shevchenko said that different groups exist in Russia’s political establishment: “For instance, group of militants always is in favor of war. Especially, generals. Soldiers die in the war, while generals become richer. There is such a quote, the longer the war lasts, the more generals there will be. At the same time, death does not threat generals in battle field. Certainly, there are forces in Russia which are interested in development of the situation in the Southern Caucasus, especially in Karabakh through peace, stability way. The force is that, which are in favor of infrastructure projects, opening of Zangazur corridor.”

According to Russian expert, position of Armenian citizens is peace today: “On the other case, it is impossible to explain the victory of Nikol Pashinyan in elections again. Armenian people want peace today. However, there is a criminal group in Armenia that is related to war. Their business passes through the isolation of Armenia and the Armenian people. Their purpose is to take Armenia to the next adventurer provocation. This group namely deals with military-terrorist activity on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in territories, which are under control of peacekeepers. This group is also against the sovereignty of Armenia, the safe existence of the Armenian people. The group obtained billions from resources of Azerbaijani territories during the occupation. They have now been deprived of the billions. Azerbaijan’s status over Karabakh has been restored. That is why the group is now ready for every provocation, every criminal activity. I think that all should be vigilant now. I consider that it is time to establish diplomatic relations between Baku and Yerevan. It is necessary to implement the “Zangazur Corridor” project and different joint Azerbaijan-Armenia-Turkey-Russia economic integration projects step-by-step. I think that Armenian citizens should be involved in joint economic projects. Because, when people conduct trade with one another, then they do not want to fight. As long as this does not happen, terrorists and provocateurs will "set the tone". It comes to me that there will be a time when Armenians will escape from these terrorist groups themselves. Because always depending on an armed person is a danger for Armenia’s sovereignty.”
“Occurrences between Moscow and Baku are not a discord”
M. Shevchenko also noted that there is no discord between Moscow and Baku regarding the development of the region: “I think that current occurrences between Russia and Azerbaijan are not a discord. It is a play of strengthening their positions. Azerbaijan is a kind and reliable neighbor and partner for Russia. Trade flow through the Samur crossing point in the southern border of Russia is conducted with full speed. It is a rare surface open corridor on Russian borders, which has not been faced with sanctions and restrictions. Russia’s corridor with the whole of Europe – Poland, Ukraine, Finland, is factically closed. That is why, it can be said that Russian relations with Azerbaijan are exclusive, absolutely open. I think that these relations have a perspective. That is why I think that occurrences between Moscow and Baku today are specifications of reached agreements and strengthening positions. It is a game of partners, which have sympathy for each other, but not enemies. Both Baku and Moscow try to get strong positions in the game.”
