According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the sides stressed the importance of mutual respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the two countries. The Iranian Foreign Minister said that Baku and Tehran have long-term and stable relations.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also told his Iranian counterpart that Azerbaijan and Iran have friendly relations, adding that friendly relations with neighboring countries are a priority for Azerbaijan.
