Former ambassador: "Iran and Azerbaijan are determined to strengthen mutual cooperation"

"Cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan can help strengthen peace and stability in the region,” said the former ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Mohsun Pakayin told APA’s Tehran correspondent.

According to the former ambassador, the recent visit of Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev to Tehran plays an important role in strengthening relations between neighboring countries: “Following some disagreements between the two countries, the visit is an indication of the serious will of the current Iranian government to maintain relations with the neighboring and friendly country, as well as Azerbaijan's determination to strengthen good relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He noted that both countries are determined to continue friendly relations positively and constructively: “The reality is that continuation of joint economic cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan may help for strengthening of peace and stability in the region.”

He stressed that on the last visit of Sh. Mustafayev the construction of Resht-Astara railway between Azerbaijan and Iran, elimination of obstacles in the custom, reducing tariffs in order to increase trade exchange, development of tourism, finding a solution for the development of joint oil fields in the Caspian Sea, cooperation fields in the reconstruction of the liberated territory of Azerbaijan were discussed.
