Azerbaijan initiated criminal case regarding the fires committed by Armenians with white phosphorus shells

Necessary measures are being taken by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan to once again expose the aggressive nature of the Republic of Armenia in the international arena, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office told APA.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, in the last stage of the fighting, which lasted from September 27 to November 10, 2020, as a result of the bravery of the Azerbaijani Army, the Armenian armed forces withdrew and committed new crimes using new methods.

"The investigation revealed that on October 8, 3, 4, and 8, 2020, the Armenian armed forces led the military units located in the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as in the territory of the Republic of Armenia and the criminal groups created by them. on »settlements in the densely populated areas of Fizuli and Tartar regions, as well as the United Nations, using methods of warfare that could lead to large-scale destruction in gross violation of the requirements of the Geneva Convention of 1949. Azerbaijan located in Arayatli, Alkhanli, Sahlabad villages of Fuzuli region and Shusha city of Fizuli region in order to cause extensive, long-term and serious damage to the environment, intentionally killing people in violation of the basic principles of the Convention on Biological Diversity by deliberately burning the natural resources of the Republic by firing at least 6 D-4 122 mm artillery shells, each containing 3.6 kilograms of P-4 (white phosphorus), into the forests with valuable and perennial trees, which are considered to be the natural resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The particularly aggressive war was planned and waged against the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the crime of terrorism.

In this regard, the Prosecutor General's Office launched a criminal case under Article 100.2 (aggressive warfare), 214.2 (terrorism) and other articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 20.11.2020 and instructed the Prosecutor General's Office to conduct an investigation.

Relevant documentation is being carried out and evidence is being collected by conducting necessary and intensive investigative measures in the criminal case.
