Azerbaijan launches criminal case against a group of Armenian mercenaries coming to fight in Karabakh from Abkhazia

An investigation has been conducted collected materials in the Prosecutor general’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, regarding criminal acts conducted against the Republic of Azerbaijan by a group of people living in the territory of Abkhazia of Georgia, the press service of Prosecutor general’s Office told APA.

By the investigation, it has been determined on October of 2020, under the call and leadership of Seyran Kocamanyan, Galust Trapizonyan and others living in Abkhazia, Georgia more than 20 people entering into criminal relations by meeting with the leaders of the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh" regime and discussing their participation in fighting operations, coming to the Republic of Azerbaijan to the city of Khankendi and other occupied settlements illegally crossing the internationally recognized state border without established documents and outside the checkpoints of the state border, ie through the territory of Armenia, and used as mercenaries by Armenian leadership against civilians of the Republic of Azerbaijan and armed forces which carried out antiterrorism operations.

A criminal case regarding the fact has been launched by Prosecutor General’s office of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the relevant articles of Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and conducting the investigation has been encharged to the Investigation Department of Prosecutor General’s Office.
