Azerbaijani Minister: There is great potential in transport sector within framework of expanding Azerbaijan-EU cooperation

“There is great potential in the transport sector within the framework of expanding bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU),” the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev said at EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, Azerbaijan is an important transport and logistics center of the region. “Favorable geographical location and some transport corridors across the country open up great opportunities and perspectives. Baku-Tbilisi-Gars railway, harbor infrastructure, Baku Shipbuilding Plant, large naval fleet and motorways expand the capabilities of these corridors.” minister noted.

Shahin Mustafayev added that the volume of transit cargo transported from Azerbaijan is also increasing by these opportunities. “During the last year, the country has made $ 9.3 million. tons of transit cargo.
