The EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, said he now saw three scenarios moving forward, ONA reports citing BBC.

According to the EU official, these are the PM's deal passing in a further so-called "meaningful vote", the UK requesting an extension to Brexit, or the UK leaving the EU without a deal.

"No deal was never our desire or intended scenario but the EU 27 is now prepared," he said. "It becomes day after day more likely."

Mr Barnier added that any extension carried "significant risks for the EU" and that a "strong justification would be needed" before the EU would agree.
