UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has congratulated everyone celebrating Ramadan, ONA reports.
“Ramadan Mubarak to everyone celebrating – may its core values of compassion, forgiveness, mercy and grace continue to inspire us all,” said Guterres in a tweet.
Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar that involves abstaining from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations from dawn to sunset, in the hopes that it will lead to greater "taqwa", or consciousness of God.
