A new specialized news TV channel in Azerbaijan is scheduled to start terrestrial broadcasting in September-October this year, Isa Mammadov, head of Technical Department of Azerbaijan’s National Television and Radio Council (NTRC) told APA.
He said that the specialized news channel is broadcast from satellite under the name ARB 24.
"ARB 24 will begin terrestrial broadcasting on the 31st broadcaster in September-October,” Mammadov noted.
Mammadov went on to say that the capacity of the TV transmitter is 1 kW.
"This power will be increased up to 2 kW until the news channel starts broadcasting," he said.
The NTRC earlier announced Turkel TV LLC as the winner of the competition for launching a new specialized (news) TV channel, which was held from November 16 to December 16.
