The Public Television and Radio (ITV) Broadcasting Council held a meeting at the National Television and Radio Council (NTRC) on June 1.

An election for the post of director general of the ITV was held at the meeting, APA reports.

Balakishi Gasimov was elected as director general of ITV for a period of 4 years, in accordance with the requirements of the relevant Articles of the Law on Public Television and Radio Broadcasting.

Director General of the Azerbaijani Public Television and Radio Jamil Guliyev was earlier relived of his duties.

Seven candidates - Rauf Abbasov, Sabuhi Abbasov, Shafag Mehraliyeva, Rahila Mehtiyeva, Garanfil Khalilova, Sadig Garayev, and Balakishi Gasimov had submitted their documents for the post of director general of ITV.

Balakishi Gasimov was born on October 20, 1978 in Baku. He is known as a participant of the "What? Where? When?" game show, "What? Where? When?" presenter and general producer in Azerbaijan, the head of the producer center GameTV.az.

He is the winner of the Prize of the What? Where? When? International Association in the nomination 2010 Person of the Year. Following the results of the 2010 winter season, he won owner the crystal Owl, brilliant Owl and The Best Captain of the Club' shoulder board.

In 2017, he became a laureate of the Vladimir Voroshilov Prize for his contribution to the development of the What? Where? When? show game.

He is married and has two children.
