“We have been developing our cooperation with Russia for several recent years. We pay active attention to humanitarian issues. We have learnt many things about each other during recent years. We worked in Syria, Caucasus. And today, our cooperation in Karabakh is characterized with a very deep understanding of humanitarian aid organization”, said the president of the International Red Cross Committee (IRCC) Peter Maurer at the joint press conference dedicated to results of his meeting with Russia’s minister of foreign affairs Sergey Lavrov, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

According to him, IRCC has been conducting work in the Karabakh region for the last 27 years: “We increased volume of aid during recent several weeks, and especially to internally displaced people... We will continue this work. It is important to continue work regarding the exchange of corpses of the killed people. It is also important to strengthen our activity in the region from now on. Here we rely on Russia’s assistance and Russia’s Armed Forces. I hope they will ensure security at the local level”.
