“There are two terms in order to implement mission in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” said Ernosto Tony, UNESCO’s Deputy Director-General, while answering the question about the protection of the monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas occupied by Armenians, APA reports.
He noted that security should be ensured in order to send the mission to the occupied territories. “There should be an agreement of two or three sides in the region as well. Without these conditions, UNESCO cannot interfere with the monuments in the occupied areas. In terms of these conditions met UNESCO can send an expert to this or another country.”
