Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. There are some contradictions with the fact that Armenians suffered genocide in 1915, said head of the Intra-national Liberation Movement Organization Vahan Martirosyan, who asked for political asylum in Azerbaijan.
He made the remarks at the panel session on "Defining the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh within Azerbaijan's territorial integrity", organized in Baku Nov. 8 in the framework of the conference titled “Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: main obstacles and prospects of the settlement. View from Armenia and Azerbaijan”.
Martirosyan said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested that the archives be disclosed for the issue to be investigated in an unbiased way.
“Erdogan suggests opening the archives, while Russia refuses to do so. The problem remains ambiguous. You can present it as an act of genocide at the expense of millions of funds, but this is not a solution,” said he added.
Armenian publicist, writer and public figure Vahe Avetyan said this is not an issue that is between Azerbaijan and Armenia only.
“If we’re talking about an event that happened in the Ottoman Empire, Armenians and Azerbaijanis should state that this issue does not pertain to them,” he added.
