At least 18 people involved in the Tokyo Olympics tested positive for Covid in the past 24 hours, the Organizational Committee said on its website Tuesday, APA reports citing TASS.
One patient is a Greek artistic swimmer; she has been quarantined, the Committee says.
The total case count among people involved in the Olympics is now 294. A total of almost 500,000 Covid tests have been taken since July 1.
A state of emergency has been declared in Tokyo on August 31 over the deteriorating epidemiological situation. This regime involves, among other things, a ban on selling alcohol in restaurants, as well as restrictions on the number of mass events visitors. Therefore, the Tokyo Olympics take place in Japan without spectators.
