82 out of 85 oriental plane trees, which are considered to be protected natural monuments in Aghdam, destroyed during occupation

By the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR dated March 26, 1982, there were 152 trees included in the list of specially protected natural monuments in the liberated territories from the occupation, said the head of the sector of MENR Mehman Nabiyev, APA reports.

According to him, the list of these trees includes Oriental plane, mountain ash, oak, chewing gum, and others: “These trees are very ancient. They were 1400-1600 years old. During the monitoring carried out in Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gubadli, Khojavend and Aghdam regions, 139 out of 152 trees in the liberated territories were inspected. It has been known from the monitoring that 123 of these trees have been destroyed, burnt, and cut. These trees are very ancient, their ages measured by thousand of year, the diameter was up to 6 m, height up to 40-50 m. There have been 85 such oriental plane trees in the territory of the Aghdam region. It has been known during monitoring that 82 of these trees have been cut and destroyed”.
