On August 14, Azerbaijani Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Azerbaijan Alfredo Nieves Portuondo and Professor Dalsy Torres Avilla,the head of medical staff coming from Cuba in support to fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health told APA.
According to the information, speaking about Azerbaijan’s methods of combating and treating of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev has informed about the situation of health in the country. According to him, the achievements gained in this field is the result of the head of state Ilham Aliyev's attention and care for the development of healthcare. The minister stressed the treatment method of doctors from Cuba and that positive results have been achieved regarding medicines used.
The head of the delegation, professor Dalsy Torres Avilla talked about establisment of hospital and treatment infrastructure in Azerbaijan. He said the presence of a sufficient volume of the potential of doctors and medium-level medical workers is an estimable case. According to D. Torres, this has great impact on treatment of not only coronavirus patients, but also treatment of other diseases. He also stressed that the inventions of the Cuban doctors have effective impacts on treatment of coronavirus infection.
The expediency of cooperation ion other branches of health sector in the future was also stressed at the meeting.
