"There is no effective drug for the treatment of COVID-19 in Azerbaijan," said Emil Gasimov, head of the resuscitation unit of the Training and Therapeutic Clinic of the Azerbaijan Medical University, at the press conference of the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
According to him, some antiviral drugs have been used to treat Ebola and some other viruses: "We use the pathogenetic treatment in coronavirus. We intervene by various means. We are one of the hospitals that use the most immune plasma in the intensive care unit of the hospital where we have been working since the beginning of the pandemic. We have used this method more and earlier in some countries of the world. Immune plasma is plasma taken from the blood of patients who have recovered from a coronavirus. Initially, there were difficulties in involving recovered patients. Then the patients who recovered with the measures taken began to come to us. This method is still under discussion in the world. In Azerbaijan, the number of patients we have benefited from this method is quite large. We have not had any problems with the use of immune plasma."
