Last year, 1 346 people died of diabetes in Azerbaijan

Last year, 27 157 people with diabetes diagnosis were registered for the first time in Azerbaijan, the State Statistics Committee stated in response to APA’s inquiry.

Of which, 11 965 people were males, while 15 192 people were females. 173 people out of the registered patients are referred to 0-13 age group, 119 people – to 14-17 age group, 360 – to 18-29 age group, and 26 505 – to 30 and above age group.

It was stated that out of the total number of the patients, the number of diabetes patients dependent on insulin is 1 265. Of which, 169 people are referred to 0-13 age interval, 102 people – to 14-17 age interval, 162 – to 18-29 age interval, and 832 – to 30 and above age interval.

It was noted that the number of patients with diabetes diagnosis registered in health institutions was 272 842 people as of the end of the year. Of which 123 120 people were males, while 149 722 people were females.

Meanwhile, the number of patients with diabetes diagnosis dependent on insulin registered in health institutions was 30 740. Of which 950 people are referred to 0-13 age group, 833 people – to 14-17 age group, 3 507 – to 18-29 age group, and 25 450 people – to 30 and above age group.

In 2019, the number of people undergoing treatment of diabetes in hospitals was 16 785.

The report says last year, 1 346 people including 532 males and 814 females died of diabetes. Compared to other cities and regions, the number of people died of diabetes was by 121 more in Baku, by 81 more in Shamkir, by 61 more in Masalli, by 50 people more in Tovuz.
