“The number of our critical patients started to increase after May”, said today Emil Gasymov, head of intensive care unit of Teaching and Therapeutic Clinics of Azerbaijan Medical University at the press conference organized by the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers, APA reports.
He said the reason of falling into critical condition of the coronavirus patients worldwide is the lung failure: “Coronavirus aggravates in people having the underlying diseases. The aggravation occurs in people suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases. The respiratory failure is the main cause of the deaths. As cornavirus is a new virus and is alien for human body, the immune system falls in uncontrollable condition, responds abnormally. The lungs become the most damage organ. The body gets filled with inflammatory liquid. The process of oxygen intake and carbon discharge of the body filled with inflammatory liquid gets disordered. Later on, the damaging of other organs takes place. The organ failure occurs. We lose people in Azerbaijan and worldwide from lung failure”.
Meanwhile, head of Department for prophylaxis and control of diseases of TABIB Yagut Garayeva said no appeals have been made regarding growth of death cases among non-COVID patients in connection with growth of number of COVID patients: “In this case, the matter is that COVID disease spreads very rapidly. And this could cause delay in provision of medical intervention in non-COVID patients. We have taken this into account. When we allocate any hospital for fight against coronavirus, the alternative ways of treatment of non-COVID patients are thought up”.
