Umayra Taghiyeva: Wave height in Caspian Sea rises to 5 meters

"In connection with the passage of cold atmospheric front over the country’s territory, the weather condition has changed, the rain is being observed in a number of regions of the country. The rain has had a shower nature and has been intensive on some territories of Great and Small Caucasus. Consequently, flood and torrent have been observed in some rivers," said Umayra Taghiyeva, director of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resource, APA reports.

At the same time, this process is characterized with windy weather condition. Especially, the maximal speed of wind on Absheron peninsula has reached 28 km per second, consequently, the wave height in the Caspian Sea has risen to 5 meters.
