Trial on the criminal case of Armenians accused of espionage – Davtyan Davit Tigrani and Sujyan Gevorg Rubenovich has ended, APA reports.
Lawyers for the accused spoke at the trial at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Ali Mammadov.
Then accused persons made last statements.
In their last words, they asked the court to forgive them.
The verdict was read in the process.
According to the verdict, Davtyan Davit Tigrani and Sujyan Gevorg Rubenovich were each sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutor demanded that each of the accused persons be sentenced to 16 years in prison at the trial held at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Ali Mammadov.

Vidadi Orujaliyev testified as a witness in the trial at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, chaired by Judge Ali Mammadov.
He noted that he served in the military unit "N". "On November 11, 2020, we were serving in the direction of Shusha. At that time, we see that 2 persons are observing our positions in the direction of Shusha. We detained them and we questioned them. We knew that they are citizens of Armenia. We asked them what they were doing there. We could not respond to us. We handed them over to the relevant government agencies.”
The witness noted that no humanitarian aid was found during the detention of the accused persons: “There was no road to Khankandi from where they were detained.”
Another witness, who is due to testify today, did not attend the trial. The court received an appeal from the Defense Ministry regarding the witness.The statement says that Lieutenant-Colonel Vugar Abdullayev, an officer who had to testify as a witness, would not be able to attend the trial in the near future because he was on special duty.

The witness said in his testimony to investigation that during serving in Shusha with military serviceman Vidadi Orujaliyev on November 11, 2020 they revealed that two persons were observing their position:
“We ordered them “stop”. They did not understand us. We questioned them, they replied us in Russian. We revealed from their identity cards, passports that they are Armenian citizens. We asked them what they were doing here. They did not answer. We detained them and handed over to relevant state bodies.”
After that, the stage of examination of documents started in the process.
Then Sujyan Gevorg Rubenovich delivered and speech and said that he regretted: “We apologize to all of you, please forgive me.”
Other accused person Davtyan Davit Tigran also apologized: “May God punish me for what I did.”
Judges announced completion of the judicial investigation.
Currently, the prosecutor is delivering speech.
