“All risks are assessed by SOCAR while implementing the projects”, said Farhad Ibadov, head of SOCAR's Department of Geophysics and Geology, APA reports.
He noted that the platforms are constructed after evaluating the risks: “There are volcanos in the Caspian Sea, but in order to study this, those places are studied before any project. Efforts are being made not to build the platform in areas close to potential risks”.
F. Ibadov noted that SOCAR's leadership operatively kept the incident in the focus, the relevant expert group has been sent and it has been known that a mud volcano had erupted: “The incident has occurred in 2 km distances from the Dashli island. There is not any infrastructure of SOCAR at that place and no drilling work was carried out. The spread information is a rumor”.
