“24,000 people die of hypertension in Azerbaijan every year, whereas their lives can be saved,” said WHO representative in Azerbaijan Hande Harmanci, APA reports.
She noted that if they are properly treated, they may not die, and these are people who die at a young age: “Heportonia disease alone causes 600 million manat loss in the economy every year. There are 19,000 patients with hypertension disease in Shamakhi. There are 2400 patients who are aware of their disease and are being treated. Others are at risk of death.”
