Length of bicycle lanes in Baku to reach 251 km by 2040

"The concept of development of bicycle lanes in Baku is reflected in the General Plan of Baku, as well as in the strategic development plan of the BNA”, said Vusal Karimli, Chairman of the Board of the Baku Transport Agency (BTA) at the event on the 6th Global Traffic Safety Week, APA reports.

According to him, bicycle lanes are already the basis of mobility in some cities: “The use of bicycles is growing all over the world. The goal is to develop cycling in Baku and encourage people to use this mode of transport. According to the general strategic plan, the length of bicycle lanes in the boulevard area of the city will be 7.5 km, 63.5 km by 2027, and 251 km by 2040", he said.
