“On July 4, an information about explosion occurred with fire in the sea, has been received by a citizen,” said major General Niyazi Zamanov, Chief of the Civil Defense Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, APA reports.
According to him, relevant agencies were immediately contacted: “Today, the helicopter has viewed the site. A mud volcano occurred on Dashli Island, 33 km away from the coast of the Salyan region.
At that moment, the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted an investigation by helicopter with a special device, and it turned out that there was no radiation background.”
N. Zamanov noted that currently, the fire does not continue in the site, adding that the working group will be sent to the area by the MES and MENR and specialists will provide information.
