"There is already no one from Azerbaijan, who joins foreign terrorist groups, no such case has been recorded," Chairman of State Committee on Work with Religious Associations Mubariz Gurbanli told journalists, APA reports.

According to him, there were recorded people previously. However preventive, as well as ideological promotion works conducted by law-enforcement bodies, media played an important role in the prevention of it: “Such kinds of facts have not been recorded currently. Family members of those, who went abroad and joined such terrorist groups earlier, have been rehabilitated. A part of these family members have been brought, of course, there are also children and women. A special rehabilitation center has been established in this regard. Employees of the State Committee on Work with Religious Associations participate in the conduction of works in the religious field with returned families in the rehabilitation center. I can not say exact numbers here, but there were few such cases in Azerbaijan. In general, Azerbaijan was ranked in a very low place in the list of foreign citizens, who participated in ISIS terrorism groups in previous years. The number of those who went from Azerbaijan was very few in comparison with arrivals from other countries. Sometimes the name of our country was not even included in the statistics.”
