At the invitation of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, a delegation of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey (TIHEK) will be in Azerbaijan from June 28 to July 2 to conduct a fact-finding mission in the liberated territories, Ombudsman Apparatus told APA.
The delegation includes TIHEK officials, as well as researchers from well-known Turkish universities with experience to investigate IHL violations and war crimes.
On June 29, the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva and a group of staff members together with the TIHEK delegation visited the Alley of Honors, the Alley of Martyrs, and the Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial.
First, the delegation visited the grave of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors and pay tribute to him. They also visited the grave of the prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva and commemorated her memory. Afterward, the delegation visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Baku Turkish Martyrs’ Memorial and paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs who sacred their lives for the freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
