Remains of 12 residents of Kalbajar's Bashlibel identified, they laid to rest in separate graves in previous place

After examination of bodies of 12 people, who shot dead by Armenians in Bashlibel village of the Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan in April 1993, they were laid to rest in the separate graves in the previous place, APA reports.

Identification has been conducted on the bodies, as a result, it was identified whom they belong to.

Note that 6 of them were women, 6 men, one a 12-year-old child, and one is a teenager aged 16, among those who were buried here 29 years ago.

Names of those people have been known before, but it was unknown that who was buried where. As a result of the identification examination, it has been clarified which body belongs to whom.

Body remains have been handed over to the Kalbajar District Executive Power.

The remains have been laid to the rest by the Kalbajar District Executive Power on September 3 in separate graves in the previous place.

Note that the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan reported on April 26, 2021 that the Armenian Armed Forces made an armed attack on Bashlibel village on April 3, 1993, and looted and completely set houses of village residents on fire in mass. 62 people, who could not leave the village, sheltered in natural caves in an area with mountainous relief called “Portda” about three kilometers away, in the highest place of the village. 48 of 62 people were residents of Bashlibel, 1 was resident of Takhtabashi village, 4 were residents of Lachin district, while 9 were military servicemen, defending the village.
