"We require a response from Armenia regarding the fate of our about 4,000 compatriots, who were taken captive and hostage during the First Karabakh War. Armenia turned a deaf ear to our requirements regarding the issue over 30 years. Our position is more severe and determined now. Close people of our compatriots, who were taken captive and hostage, have been waiting for about 30 years," Head of Return to Karabakh Organization, MP Tural Ganjaliyev told APA.

He noted that after end of the 44-day Patriotic War, Azerbaijan demonstrated to the whole world how to follow humanism principles visually: "Although a little time passed since end of the war, the Azerbaijani side detected and handed over bodies and remains of more than 1,600 occupants to Armenia. The process still continues today. But what did occupant Armenia do during the First Karabakh War? According to investigations, conducted by relevant bodies, our 3,888 compatriots were taken captive and hostage by Armenian terrorists during the First Karabakh War. Some of our compatriots were captivated in a wounded condition. Most of them lost their lives as they were not provided with necessary medical assistance. Information was spread that survived people were forced to work in mining and other heavy works under the most severe tortures. It is asked now. Why did not Armenia release our compatriots, taken hostage, during 30 years? Or which information was presented to the Azerbaijani side regarding the fate of any captive or hostage? Why did not Armenian officials, and their supporters, heads of international organizations remember humanism principles at that time?"

T. Ganjaliyev said that in order to require an explanation from Armenia regarding our compatriots, taken captive and hostage, the organization, led by him, has sent queries to international organizations in the form of video addresses, besides official letters. But addressed appeals have not been answered: "We raise the issue at most meetings with representatives of international organizations. Unfortunately, we still do not have exact information on fate of our compatriots in hostage. Great construction works are conducted in the territories, liberated from enemy occupation. Main purpose of the Azerbaijani state is provision of return of former IDPs to their native lands as soon as possible. The pain of people regarding their captived relatives will be renewed after the return. Some of these people died with a longing for a son. Survived parents, brothers-sisters are still waiting for news today. We should do so that Armenia present information, regarding Azerbaijanis, taken captive and hostage, within the shortest period of time."
