Rescued staff of Iranian cargo brought to Baku - UPDATED

9 members of the crew rescued from the “Shabahang” cargo ship swimming under flag of Iran Islamic Republic and crashed near the Lenkoran port, were brought to Baku.

The crew members were taken to the port of Baku by the State Border Service guard ship.

The captain of the ship, Vikashy Barley, expressed his deep gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the emergency response

At present, members of the staff are examined by physicians of the Military Hospital of Azerbaijan`s State Border Service.

ran's ISNA news agency reported that the ship does not belong to the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It was added that the ship belongs to Iran's private sector.

“Shabahang” cargo ship's 7 crew members are citizens of Iran and 2 are citizens of India.

Rescue operations of 9 people – personal staff of the Shabahang ship cargo, swimming under flag of Iran Islamic Republic and crashed nearby Lankaran port, have successfully completed by helicopters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and guarding board of the State Border Service at 4:10 p.m, press service of the State Border Service told APA.

Noted that saved 9 people are safely taken to the seashore.
