Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran Ali Alizada met with the mayor of Iran's Gilan province Asadullah Abbasi, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
During the meeting, Abbas said that the cultural, historical and religious ties between the peoples of the two countries affect the development of relations between our countries:
"There is a great potential to increase trade at the Astara border checkpoint. With the development of the bridge over the border river, it is possible to ensure the movement of 1,000 trucks per day."
Abbasi said trade ties between the Caspian port and the port of Baku will be further enhanced by the use of train ships.
"We can use the railway line between the Rasht-Caspian port. "By accelerating the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway, as well as the Astara-Astara railway, we can further increase trade," Abbasi said.
