Baku – APA. Azerbaijan’s achievements in the field of multiculturalism are highly appreciated by religious figures, said Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

The president made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Supreme Religious Council of Caucasian People who attended an international conference titled “Traditions of religious tolerance in the Caucasus and Azerbaijan's model of multiculturalism.”

President Aliyev noted that another important event took place in Azerbaijan this year.

“Pope Francis, the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church, paid a visit to Azerbaijan this year. He worshiped in the Catholic Church, visited the Heydar Mosque in Baku and met with chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office and leaders of other religious confessions,” the president said, adding. “Pope Francis sent a good message from Baku to the whole world. That’s our achievements in the field of multiculturalism are highly appreciated by religious figures.”
