112 Ukraine TV Channel deprived of their digital broadcasting license
# 26 September 2019 15:39 (UTC +04:00)

The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting made an unprecedented decision - to deprive 112 Ukraine TV Channel of their digital broadcasting licenses, APA reports citing Ukrainian media.

We, the channel’s team, see this as strong censorship, which casts great doubt on the freedom of speech in Ukraine. This is not the first time that the 112 Ukraine TV Channel has been inconvenient for the authorities, we are fighting for our right to stay on air from the very beginning of the channel’s existence, each government tried to stop our work.

The actions of the National Council are illegal. Authority of three members of the National Council expired in July 2019. Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada de facto recognized this fact. Taking any decisions, they abuse their power, and the National Council itself is not legitimate. We take up the decision of the National Council as an illegal one of an illegitimate government authority.

Nevertheless, the 112 Ukraine TV Channel, 112.ua and 112.international sites will continue their work. We will not allow the decision of the National Council to deprive Ukrainians of objective information.
