Kremlin has commented on Russian FM Sergei Lavrov’s statement “Moscow is ready to cut relations with EU”, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.

The head of the press service of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov said that Russia should be ready for unfriendly attitudes by European Union, however, wants to develop relations with the EU.

“The mass media making sensational headlines to the words of Lavrov give it out of content. It is a big mistake of mass media. It is namely the mistake that changes the meaning. The meaning is that we do not want to cut relations with the EU. We want the development of the relations with the EU. If the European Union follows this path, imposes sanctions that pose risks to the Russian economy, then we will be ready. Because you should be ready for the worst. The minister said it, however, they distorted the meaning and gave this sensational headline in such a way that Russia will almost certainly initiate the cut off relations with the European Union,” Peskov stressed.
