The problem of landmines in liberated territories of Azerbaijan is delaying the reconstruction and construction works in those territories and the return of former IDPs to their ancestral homes, said Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration Habib Mikayilli during his speech at the presentation ceremony of the book "Revival.Beginning" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, APA reports.

Habib Mikayilli drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan is one of the top 10 countries in the world due to mine contamination:

"During the occupation, more than 1 mln landmines were buried by Armenia in those territories. After the 44-day Patriotic War, that is, until today, 300 people were victims of landmines. Today, the ruins and mines in the liberated territories are the biggest problems facing Azerbaijan," he added.
