European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated on Tuesday that the European Union had already secured around two billion doses of vaccines against coronavirus that the first citizens from the bloc could receive a shot of it before the end of December, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Von der Leyen also noted the importance of the stimulus aimed at combating the economic crisis caused by the pandemic for further modernization of the union. "We want investment and reforms," she said. "This will also be an important moment for our multilateral rules-based system."

Von der Leyen went on to address the issue of Hungary and Poland vetoing the bloc's 2021–27 budget and reaffirmed her previous statement, saying, "if someone does have legal doubts, [....] they can go to the European Court of Justice."
