Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told NTV on Thursday that Ankara is working on organizing a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, about Moscow's military operation in the latter country, APA reports citing Tletrader.
Cavusoglu explained Turkey is negotiating with both parties and that the encounter taking place depends mostly on Putin's consent. He added that "[w]e are approaching the current course of negotiations with neither optimism nor pessimism" but realism, particularly after the events such as the alleged war crimes Russia committed in Bucha.
Back in March, Instanbul hosted in-person talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan later expressed his intention to bring his counterparts from the countries involved in the conflict to negotiating table.
