EU ambassador: Volume of trade turnover with Azerbaijan is increasing"

“Trade turnover between EU-Azerbaijan made up USD 15.4 bln. in 2021, which accounts for 44% of Azerbaijan's foreign trade, said Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko in his speech at EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum, APA reports.

EU diplomat noted that it is the seventh EU-Azerbaijan business forum and a report will be presented within the framework of the forum.

The ambassador stated that Azerbaijan is the most successful country in the region, in the fight against COVID 19 and it was appreciated both at the local and global level.

“Our cooperation is being developed at the economic level. Trade turnover between us is returning to the situation in the pre-pandemic period and even further increasing. In 2021, trade turnover rise to USD 15.4 bln. and it accounts for 44% of Azerbaijan's foreign trade. Numerous European companies have expressed interest in Azerbaijan.”

According to the diplomat, the EU wants sustainable peace in the region by contributing peace process in the South Caucasus and making efforts in this field.

“European organizations express their interests in participating in demining, and reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan, and want to take part here by means of tenders,” he added.
