Okan Buruk to become Istanbul Basaksehir manager

Okan Buruk will be the manager of Medipol Basaksehir, the Istanbul club announced Monday, APA reports citing Anadolu Agency.

Buruk, 45, will be at the helm for the next three seasons for the team that finished last season second in the top tier Spor Toto Super Lig, just two points behind the champions, Galatasaray. The signing ceremony will be held on Tuesday in Istanbul.

Its second place finish in Turkey’s top tier football league earned Basaksehir a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League qualification round. Last season, Buruk coached Caykur Rizespor to an 11th place finished in the Super Lig.
