“Azerbaijan is an independent and democratic state and there is not any barrier for people’s visit to holy places, regardless of their belonging to Islam, Christianity, or Judaism, situated in foreign countries”, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli told APA.

According to him, it is considered to organize visits to holy places, belonging to religion, in accordance with legislation: “A kind of disorder and uncontrol of the process during visits to holy places causes certain complications. Unprepared tourism companies, organizing such visits, sometimes just gather people, but can not carry out necessary organization works, and people suffer from its results. Therefore, it is thought that religious visit to Holy places of Islam should be carried out under the auspices of the Caucasian Muslims Office and necessary measures should be taken for the regulation of this.

The head of the Committee stated that the organization of the visit to holy places of Islam can be reflected in the law “On Freedom of religion”, at the same time, on Decisions and Rules on Licensing: “Experts work on this issue. The regulation of this issue is being considered in any way.”
