Azerbaijan registers about 3,000 tuberculosis infection in 2022

“2877 people for the first time were infected with tuberculosis in Azerbaijan in 2022,” said Irada Akhundova, director of the Scientific-Research Institute of Lung Diseases, APA reports.

According to her, the indicated rate was 28.4 per 100.000 population: “The number of recurrence patients (relapse, after treatment failure, due to discontinuation of treatment, spread out of control, and other patients) is 2292. Of this number 1112 people relapsed. A total of 5169 people were officially registered in 2022. The number of patients with preserved susceptibility to Mycobacterium tuberculosis is 1301 - among primary patients, and 1494 among recurrence patients. Those figures were determined with the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
