Azerbaijan's SBS prevents smuggling of large consignment of drugs from Iran

The smuggling of a large consignment of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan has been prevented, the press center of the State Border Service (SBS) told APA.

As a result of the vigilance of the Goytepe border detachment of the Border Troops and the SBS Coast Guard, the smuggling of 102 kg 424 grams of drugs, psychotropic and potent substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented.

As a result of the measures taken, on October 11, near the state border in the direction of the village of Bilasuvar, Bilasuvar region, 4 packages with 19 kg 600 g of drugs were found and seized.

On the same day, at about 20:40, at the service area of ​​the same frontier post, a violation of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan was revealed by three unknown persons from Iran.
Appropriate measures were taken to detain border violators.

One of them was detained with a sports bag, and two fled back, throwing a contraband cargo on the ground.

During the investigation, it was established that the detainee was an Iranian citizen Shahmugeddem Jafar Hasan (born in 1988), 35 kg 590 g of drugs were found in his bag.

On October 12, at about 07:45 am, a State Border Guard patrol vessel guarding the state border in the southern direction of the Caspian Sea discovered a suspicious bundle on the water. During the inspection of the contents of the package, 47 kg 234 g of drugs were found and seized.
