“As an MP representing Khankandi Constituency No. 122, Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin also live in my constituency. I should note that recently citizens of Armenian descent have appealed to us a lot. The number of those appeals has increased after the end of the Patriotic War. They, mainly, appeal to us via social media. Their main desire is to make their citizenship official in the Republic of Azerbaijan,” said Chairman of the "Return to Karabakh" Public Union, MP Tural Ganjaliyev in an interview with APA while responding to the question “As MP representing Khankandi, how do you plan to work with Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin living in Khankandi in the future? After our victory in Patriotic War, do you receive any appeals from citizens of Armenian descent in one form or another?

According to him, Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin appeal with questions regarding how they can obtain Azerbaijan’s identity card, passport: “We explain everything to them within the framework of legal procedure. Today ethnic Armenians living there know that their future, their perspective in a concrete way will be possible only within the framework of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the framework of respect to laws of Azerbaijan. Otherwise, they would not have to appeal to us. They understand that their only protector is the state of Azerbaijan, the only bodies that they can appeal are the relevant bodies of Azerbaijan. We explain it to them.” Azerbaijani deputy also noted that some Armenians are interested in workplaces, properties, what their rights and duties will be as Azerbaijani citizens: “We explain them opportunities that our laws allow.”
