Iran's MFA: Iran considers security of Armenia and region to be its own security

Iran considers the security of Armenia and the region as its security, and the decision to open the consulate-general in the town of Gafan is the important manifestation that Iran is displaying for the millennia-old relations with the Armenian people, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said during the inauguration of the Iranian consulate-general in Gafan, APA reports ciitng Sputnik Armenia.

“ In the presence of the respected and hospitable citizens of Gafan I’d like to say that Iran considers the security of Armenia and the region as its own security. Our policy is to respect the territorial integrity, as well as the internationally recognized borders,” the Iranian FM said.

He expressed hope that through the efforts of the embassy and the consulate-general in Gafan, they will try to develop trade-economic relations further.

"I want to remind you that the Iranian government is ready for the opening of the Consulate General of Armenia in Tabriz within the framework of mutual relations,"
