An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 hit the Balleny Islands area on Monday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) data showed, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The tremor's epicenter was located at a depth of 69 kilometers at 2:46 pm local time. The Balleny Islands are a remote group of subantarctic volcanic islands located in the Southern Ocean, south of New Zealand, known for their pristine and untouched natural environment.
