Number of people visiting Azerbaijan in January this year increased by 18%

The number of foreign citizens visiting Azerbaijan in January 2020 has increased 35 thousand or by 18.1% to stand at 226 thousand in comparison to January 2019, State Tourism Agency told APA.

The highest increase was observed in Russia and Georgia, where most travelers came from. Thus, the number of people coming from Russia has increased by 20,5% or 12 thousand to stand at 68 thousand, while the number of people coming from Georgia increased by 8 thousand or 14.6% and has been 64 thousand.

Both from the Middle East and Turkey 24 thousand visitors came from each, with 20.8% and 12.1% growth respectively. The highest growth among Middle East countries was observed in the number of people coming from Saudi Arabia (321.5% or 5 thousand growth) and Kuwait (73.7% or 1.7 thousand growth)
