President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree appointing Alikhan Smailov to the post of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, APA reports citing Ak Orda.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev appointed Alikhan Smailov Prime Minister of the Republic, the corresponding decree is published on the website of the head of state.

Alikhan Smailov’s candidacy, proposed by the Amanat party for the post of prime minister, was supported by 82 deputies of the lower house of the republican parliament (Majilis), seven voted against, eight abstained.

In January 2022, by presidential decree, Smailov was appointed to the post of prime minister.

As reported IA REGNUM On March 29, all members of the government of Kazakhstan under the leadership of Alikhan Smailov resigned in connection with the election of a new composition of the Mazhilis.

Kazakhstan’s constitution stipulates that the government must resign before the newly elected majilis.
