The Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno Garabagh region of the Azerbaijan Republic has issued a statement regarding the illegal “elections” held on the occupied territories of our country, the community told APA.

The statement says: "Another “election show” has been organized under the title of “presidential and parliamentary elections” on March 31, 2020, in the occupied Nagorno Garabagh region of the Azerbaijan Republic. This step of the occupant Armenia and its helpmate - the occupational regime is illegal, does not have any legal ground, and is a great strain on the notion of democracy and election.

In the contemporary times when the world is facing the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, despite running of people’s lives into danger, Armenia and the occupational regime remaining committed to their trait, even in such a condition, continue their illegal activities and hold a show named as “elections”. This is another indicator of the values drawn on by Armenia and the so-called state formation and their “attitude” to members of the Armenian community of the Nagorno Garabagh region of the Azerbaijan Republic kept under their servitude, and the extent of the insignificance of life and fate of those people for the regime".

It is noted in the statement that, Armenians, living in Nagorno Garabagh will finally understand they have become a tool in the hand of Armenia and invasive regime, which do not value them and make them victims of fake games, instead of protecting from pandemics: “Holding illegal so-called “elections” in occupied Nagorno Garabagh is a gross violation of fundamental human rights of Azerbaijanis, who were subjected to ethnic cleansing and removed from native lands. We note that the UN, the OSCE, other international organizations, and the international community have released statements regarding such fake “elections” for several times, condemned illegal “elections” held in occupied Azerbaijani territory, and declared inviolability of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized borders. These illegal elections is another blow to the negotiation process and serve for aggravation of the situation. We are sure the Armenians, living in Nagorno Garabagh will participate in legal elections, to be held in accordance with the Constitution and other laws of Azerbaijan together with Azerbaijanis, who will return back after the restoration of internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
