The ministries of foreign affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia hold intensive consultations in accordance with a joint action plan, said Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev on Friday, APA reports.

Consultations between the Azerbaijani and Russian foreign ministries on the topic of information support of foreign policy were held in Baku on July 27.

“Today’s consultations were held constructively and in the conditions of mutual understanding. We also discussed relations with mass media, work with on social media networks, as well as cooperation in the field of digital diplomacy,” Hajiyev told reporters following the consultations.

In her turn, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the issue of facilitating the work of Russian journalists in Azerbaijan and vice versa was considered during the consultations.

“Sometimes we witness an anti-Azerbaijani campaign, and something needs to be done about this. There are tools to combat the negative and destructive tendencies in international organizations that Azerbaijan and Russia are both involved in," she added.
