“Greece and Azerbaijan have ancient historical relations,” said Greece's ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolaos Piperigkos at the exhibition dedicated to 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Greece held at University of Culture and Arts, APA reports.
“Our cultural relations are rich. There has always been a special interest in Greek history and ancient culture in Azerbaijan and among Azerbaijani artists,” the ambassador said.
The diplomat touched upon historic relations. He noted the relations of Greek rulers with the South Caucasus and Azerbaijan.
“Diplomatic relations were established between two countries in 1992. our country opened its embassy in Azerbaijan in 1993. It was Greece’s first embassy in the South Caucasus. I hope the cooperation will strengthen and deepen in next years,” the diplomat stressed.
